These donut hole spiders are so easy to make and it’s the perfect opportunity to get the kids in the kitchen and make memories.
Mini Donut Spiders Halloween Snack
What you need:
- Frosted Donut Holes (we used chocolate for this but any donut holes can be used)
- Pretzel Sticks (you’ll need about 4 whole sticks per donut hole)
- Chocolate Chips
- Vanilla Frosting
How to put this Halloween snack together:
Step 1:
The first thing you’ll want to do is break the pretzel sticks in half. You could leave them as is, but if you do the legs of the spider would be pretty long and hard to keep intact.
Step 2:
Next, you’ll want to press 4 pretzel halves into one side of the donut hole.
If you find that you’re having trouble with the donut holes breaking or splitting, use a skewer to poke the holes first. It makes it a little easier and there was less cracking when it came to the donut.
Step 3:
After you have the holes on one side, turn the donut hole over and do the same thing, placing the pretzel halves into the donut.
You should have a total of 8 pretzels sticking out of the donut hole now.
Tip: Sometimes I had problems with the pretzels staying in for the legs. If this happens, just add a little bit of melted chocolate on the end of the pretzels before sticking them in the leg holes.
You don’t need a whole lot so you can just melt a few of the chocolate chips to get the melted chocolate.
Now, let’s decorate!
Step 4:
On the top of the donut hole, make 2 circles with the vanilla icing so we can create the eyes. We had some spare piping bags handy, so I put the icing in those to help make the circles small enough.
Step 5:
Add a chocolate chip to each white circle to finish the look of the eyes.
Ta-Dah! We are done. Now you have some fun spider-themed donut holes that kids will love snacking on or have for a quick breakfast.
